John Wayne Nelson II
USMC Sergeant RTD
John is a disabled veteran and founder of DELTACOM Coffee. He resides in Turner, Maine. Joining the Marine Corps after high school he was selected to the prestigious Silent Drill Platoon. In the mid-2000s he was deployed to Afghanistan with Delta Company 1st LAR Battalion. After deployment, Sergeant Nelson was stationed at the Mountain Warfare Training Center as a Mountain Leader Instructor for elite Marines.

During his instructor tenure, he successfully summited Mount McKinley (20,310 ft) in Alaska with his fellow instructors. Tragically, a year later he sustained a Severe Traumatic Brain Injury. Since that time Sergeant Nelson's mission has been focused on a map to recovery and finding ways to help other disabled veterans. With DELTACOM Coffee that mission has been completed!

HELPING VETERANS ONE SIP AT A TIME

Pam Payeur
Wounded Heroes Program
Spc Michael J.A. Payeur, Tanker, U.S. Army Retired was seriously injured during his 2nd tour of Iraq in 2006. He survived 11 IED blasts and was sent stateside. During the following two years encountering several bureaucratic glitches that halted his treatments and recovery, I was a mother in Maine with a lost, injured son that was in Texas struggling for answers. With the knowledge I gained making endless calls, speaking to so many people, trying to straighten things out, I wondered if all military families deal with challenges like this. I realized that if my son did not have me in his corner to handle the countless issues that he could not, his outcome could have been very different. So, I decided to put my accumulated knowledge to use and help other servicemembers in similar situations to his and founded the Wounded Heroes Program of Maine. We were clear on our mission to serve our wounded in a different way that what we had seen at the time. We decided we would be an all-volunteer program so that as much funding as possible would go directly back to our deserving veterans. We would not be a corporate type organization and we would work from the heart. We are 15 years strong and still on a mission to leave no fallen servicemember behind.
